As owners of a black Labrador aged 12 we were rather anxious from the minute we asked you to take her on this journey of almost 1400 miles. However from the time we all met and you agreeing to take some of our luggage as well as our dog we knew we were in very safe hands. The regular updates with photos and videos certainly helped in keeping us reassured at all times.

But your true service levels shone through when our flight was cancelled and our arrival delayed by 24 hours. Nothing was a problem and you looked after Lily for the extra day without any problem at all and without any additional charge.

Your service is exemplary and we hope that you will be very successful for many years to come (but don’t get too busy !!!!!!!)

I was very satisfied during my experience with friends on the road. Chloe drove me, my little dog Rosie and a few belongings all the way from Cornwall to Southern Spain via France.

Her driving was excellent, the choices of accommodation during the journey were good and we felt comfortable, relaxed and entertained throughout.

Massive thanks to Friends On The Road for transport my new rescue dog, Bala the podengo, and myself all the way from Tavira in the Eastern Algarve to our home in London. Chloe is an excellent animal handler, driver and travel companion. Dog friendly hotels were booked and nice service areas off the motorway were visited for dog and human pit stops. An added bonus was her Spotify selection!  The best thing about our three day drive was that I had an opportunity to get to know my new dog is a slow, gentle way, sitting by her in the rear seat, short walkies, hotel stops and just time for her to build confidence in me.

So! Don’t hesitate! If you are think of adopting a Portuguese pooch, treat yourself to a few days in the Algarve, visit some shelters, find your dog and book a trip home with Friends on the Road!

Where do I start?  To say my journey has been complicated is an understatement, but the team took everything in their stride.

Original travel date was cancelled do to the stalling of my house sale, so instead of taking me and my dogs, Chloe Rainbow took my stuff to Portugal.  With no availability between July and October, they offered me a window if I could meet them in France, so I did.  Chloe drove all day to meet me there and then after a good night's sleep, we set off for Portugal.  Picked up Paul on the way for the final leg and we made it!

These guys are just awesome; Toni holding the fort and Chloe and Paul on the road. 

I felt like I was dealing with friends the whole time and the way that they literally bent over backwards to help me is just brilliant.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and cannot recommend them highly enough.  On a scale of 1-10, they get a 20 from me!

A massive recommendation for Friends on the Road. We moved back to the UK in very difficult circumstances and Chloe and the team took care of everything for us, from the paperwork to all the collection and medical needs. They looked after Bella and Ollie so well, giving us regular updates along the way. The dogs were happy and healthy. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

We travelled from the Uk to Alicante Spain with our two sausages. We decided on the premium service as one of our dogs is quite anxious, this way we  travelled with them so no stress for them. Everything was arranged for us euro tunnel, hotels etc and of course many stops along the way to make sure our dogs had the exercise and toilet stops. Chloe is very professional, caring and a wonderful person. The whole trip was a joy. If you are looking for pet travel, look no further than this company…. Many thanks to Chloe for safely & comfortably getting all 7 of us to our new home in the UK despite at times atrocious weather. She immediately made friends with our little horrors (I'm sure Gizmo still misses his cuddles getting in & out of the van), nothing was too much trouble, the overnight accommodation was comfortable (& dry!) & the overall experience helped make leaving our home in Portugal much less stressful, helping with the doggies & our copious luggage. I cannot recommend Friends on the Road more highly.

 Fozzie and Jarvis - Peterborough, UK to Loule, Algarve - Premium Express (Owner Accompanied)

I cannot recommend this amazing pet transport company enough. The trio of Chloe, Paul and Toni looked after us from the moment we enquired about their service until we were driven, door to door from the UK to Loule, Portugal. There was absolutely no way our fur babies ( Irish doodle & cockapoo) were going into the hold of an aeroplane for their one way journey to our new life & home and I couldn’t have chosen a better travel experience for Fozzie ( our nervous traveller ) and Jarvis. Fozzie sat with me on the back seat ( well, mainly on me ! ) and Jarvis was very cosy & happy ( and slept pretty much all the way !) in a crate in the back and I could still see him through a little gap. We stopped at service stations every 3-4 hours, sometimes sooner where dogs & humans could stretch their legs and use the services ( grass patches for doggies of course) We always felt very safe with Chloe & Paul changing driving shifts along the way. I’ve told them myself I’m in awe of their driving. I still am ! The weather was horrific for our trip but we did it in the exact timescale we were quoted. I’m just sorry the hospitality (coffee) my husband ( who flew over and was trusted to go shopping ) gave them at the end of the journey was so horrific ! I think we need to source some proper Portuguese coffee and invite them back for a better experience !  Thankyou team ! You’re awesome !

Chloe is amazing. She transported our 2 cocker spaniels for us. She realised our vet had made an error on the passports and even came to the vets with us to help get it rectified. She is amazing with the dogs they loved her and she genuinely cares. She gave them lots of breaks and kept in touch with us throughout the whole journey. Would highly recommend

Chloe picked up our two dogs from Cardiff and drove them down to the Algarve, spending two nights in hotels on the way. She was absolutely wonderful! The dogs took to her straight away, and rode with her on the back seat of the van, with seatbelts on. Chloe sent us loads of photos and videos and kept us updated all along their journey, so we never worried about them at all. Friends on the Road deserve all the five star reviews they have, and we thoroughly recommend them.

Friends On The Road were incredibly helpful and efficient when I used them to bring our newly adopted dog from Portugal to meet us in Provence earlier this summer in May (2024). Chloe was very responsive via email to make the plan, was very amenable throughout and didn’t mind adapting to a small change of pick-up location a few days beforehand. When Bunny had been collected from the Algarve, she sent regular updates via WhatsApp and photos of her along the route, as well as pictures of her securely fastened into the backseat of the car. At no point did I worry about things at all - Chloe gave peace of mind, seemed unfazed by the length of the journey and I would use Friends On The Road again without hesitation - they are a combination of professionalism and kindness.

I very highly recommend Friends on the Road! We went with Chloe from Paris to Southampton and had a fabulous, stress free journey. I also felt very safe (and I am a nervous back seat driver!). Boomer was treated like a Prince . We will definitely use them again. A very pleasant experience overall.

I used them to move my dog Harley, and cat Casper from East Yorkshire to Central Portugal.

They picked us up from our base in the UK, and organised the route, stop overs, eurotunnel, hotels, etc.

it was so great not having to drive myself and Harley and Casper were very well looked after.

At each hotel, they looked after Casper in their room, so he had company and a comfy room for the night.

IHaving just relocated back to UK  from Portugal. I would definitely recommend this service. From start to finish both Chloe and Toni have been amazing in their correspondence. The journey was so stress free and nothing was a problem for Chloe. She booked everything for us. My dog Buster was so happy and comfortable in the van. She helped pack the van and unpack too..!! Chloe was even on hand before the journey started to help with any vets questions I had.

Chloe dog sat for us on the 1st night so that my daughter and I could go get some dinner at the hotel.

Both hotels were great for dogs and plenty of room too. The pit stops along the 3 days trip were also well thought out. We stopped at a lake south of Salamanca so Buster could have a dip and run off lead.

Cannot fault the service and company along the way was most enjoyable too.

I feel like I want another road trip just for the giggles.
